Finet (2001): Originally described from California, this species sometimes has been confounded with Lucapinella crenifera (Sowerby, 1835). A specimen from Tagus Cove, Isabela Isl. (CAS loc. n° 27221) misidentified as L. callomarginata, and subsequent citations by Hertlein & Strong (1955) and Metivier (1968) led to include callomarginata in the Galapagos fauna, erroneously as this species is probably restricted to a more northern (Californian) area.
