Holotype: No. 236495, Herb. Calif. Acad. Sci., collected by J. T. Howell (139) May 31, 1932, Type locality: northeast side of Narborough Island, Galapagos (Setchell & Gardner, 1937). INA (2021) UC University Herbarium has a Collection of Marine Algal TYPE of Galapagos I. UC1862341 , CAS236495.

Distribution: Bahía Banks, Caleta Tagus - Isabela, Black Beach Anchorage - Floreana, Baltra (Taylor, 1945). Galapagos i. at Fernandina, Isabela, Floreana and S. Seymour (Silva, 1966).
