Gastrocopta clausa
Caracol terrestre, Land snail
Gastrocopta (G.) clausa has an ovate-conic shell, with a few pustulae on the lip edge, but which are abundant and larger inside the aperture. The species has ten strongly developed apertural barriers, greatly obstructing the aperture: angular-parietal, infraparietal, columellar and subcolumellar lamellae and supernumerary, basal, infrapalatal, lower-palatal, infrapalatal and upper-palatal folds. Gastrocopta (G.) clausa also has a strong nodule behind the angular-parietal lamella and a strongly developed subcolumellar lamella. Its barrier formula is [ap(nd) + ip + c + sc] l + [sn + b + iap + lp + irp + up] f. Gastrocopta (G.) clausa has an aulacognathous jaw (Oliveira and Oliveira 1974) (Figure 8E) with a radular formula: 6-5-C-5-6; where the central tooth is tricuspid, lateral teeth are bicuspid and marginal teeth, serrate (Figure 8F). The measurements of the illustrated specimens are: ICCDRS 0040441: 2.10 × 1.05 mm, 4.75 whorls; ICCDRS 0040447: 2.45 × 1.30 mm, 5. 25 whorls. (Miquel & Brito, 2019).
