Stems spreading or erect often profesly branched, leaves elliptic to obovate, flowers monoecious in condensed axillary cymules, middle part of sepals arkening and striate in fruit and seed lenticular roundly ovate with colors between reddish brown or chestnut brown.

This species is widespread at low elevations in the coastal zone and dry zone in open vegetation (Wiggins and Porter 1972).
