Origin: Native

Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Senegal to the Angola Current. Western Atlantic: 17°N to Brazil, including the Gulf of Mexico. Indian Ocean: between 7°N and 4°S, east of 70°E. Pacific Ocean: in tropical waters; reported from New Zealand. South China Sea (Froese and Pauly, 2021).
