Annual plant, 10 cm high, with green-veined, white-margined leaves and divaricate pedicels (Wiggins and Porter, 1971).
Known for scattered localities on several islands (Wiggins and Porter, 1971).

Taxon category: Accepted
Syn.: Mollugo umbellata (Forssk.) Ser.; Pharnaceum umbellatum Forssk. Under the name of Mollugo cerviana (L.) Ser fide Wiggins and Porter (1971). Thulin et al. (2016) found that M. cerviana was polyphyletic, and analyzed genetically the Galápagos material (Van der Werf 1008 (NY), FN825712, KT907395, FN824432), placing it in the Hypertelis clade, as H. umbellata.

Distribution: The native range of this species is W. Africa, Arabian Peninsula, India, N. China, SW. & S. Central U.S.A. to N. & W. Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador (including Galápagos) to Peru (POWO, 2023).
