Galapagos Species Database

The Galapagos Species Database shares the information about the species from our Natural History Collections.

Dicranomyia galapagoensis (Alexander, 1962)

mosquito, crane flies

The larvae are often found in wet moss at the entrance of caves, consequently the adults are commonly collected inside the caves. Specimens have been collected on the sea surface and in aerial nets between islands (Peck 1994a, b). Larvae were collected from the freshwater lake, El Junco (Gerecke et al. 1995).
