Nexilosus latifrons (Tschudi, 1846)

damisela achiotada, damisela coquito., Rusty damselfish, Coquito damselfish

Dark brown; belly and sides of head light brown ; a prominent rust-colored bar on side, directly obove anus; rusty-orange markings on head, black obove with blue iridescence, the dorsal and anal fins with bright blue spo. Size: To about 26 cm.

Habitat: restricted to the lava shores along the west coast of Isabela and around Fernandina. Usually near the bottom in pairs, and never far from shelter.

Distribution

Distribution: Restricted to the eastern south Pacific, from Lobos de Afera, Peru, Chile and the west side of the Archipelago. Ecuador including Galapagos to northern Chile.
