Habitat: Nocturnal, loose aggregations, large individuals sometimes solitary. Juveniles frequent lava coasts where protection is offered

Distribution: Eastern Pacific, from California to Peru, and Revillagigedos, Cocos and Ecuador in Galápagos. Eastern Pacific only. Gulf of California and southern Baja to Peru. All oceaenic islands except Clipperton.
