Bluish gray back, tan or light gray sides shading to white belly. Dusky band under eyes and another forward of pectoral fin. Size: To at least 55 cm

Habitat: Solitary, found along rocky shores and in regions of coral development.

Distribution: circumtropical; in the eastern Pacific from southern California and the central Gulf of California to Peru, also Easter and Ecuador in the Galapagos Islands Circumglobal. California to Chile and all oceanic islands of the Tropical Eastern Pacific except Clipperton
