Obelia dichotoma
hidroide, Hidrozoo, Hydrozoa
Colonies small, 1-2 cm high with zig-zag stems, a knob shaped manubrium and pedicellate tubler-shaped hydrothecae. More compact in areas of strong current.
Found in areas of both strong and weak current.

Note: Obelia alternata was often misidentified as O. dichotoma due to underestimation of species diversity. Distinctive features include geniculate stems and short, annulated hydrothecal pedicels. It is recognized as a valid species, known only from the Galapagos Islands, and was collected from Isla San Cristóbal (Calder, et al. 2021).
