Galapagos Species Database

The Galapagos Species Database shares the information about the species from our Natural History Collections.

Pocillopora damicornis (Linnaeus, 1758)

coral pétreo, coral coliflor, Stony coral, cauliflower coral

Colonies form clumps of relatively thin branches where the verrucae and branches intergrade closely.

Small colonies though uncommon, occur in shallow water habitats throughout the Galapagos. Colonies were more common before the 1982-83 El Nino event.
