Synm.: Hutchinsia secunda C.Agardh 1824, Polysiphonia secunda (C.Agardh) Zanardini 1840, Herposiphonia tenella f. secunda (C.Agardh) Hollenberg 1968, Conferva lanosa Draparnaud 1824 (Guiry & Guiry, 2021). John et al. (2004) cite Herposiphonia tenella var. secunda Hollenberg, Polysiphonia secunda (C. Agardh) Mont. and Polysiphonia tenella J. Agardh as synonyms of Herposiphonia secunda (C. Agardh) Falkenb. “We follow Schneider & Searles (1997) and Masuda & Kogame (2000) in considering H. secunda and H. tenella as distinct species.” (Furnari et al., 2003).
