Type locality: Post Office Bay, Isla Santa María, Galápagos Islands, Ecuador (Taylor 1945: 139, 140). Holotype: W.R. Taylor No. 34-364; 27 January 1934; Hancock Foundation (Taylor 1945: 139, 140). Notes: Type dredged from 13-18 metres’ depth. This species known hitherto only from two collections dredged from depths of 13-37 meters, is now found also in shallow, quiet water along the inner east lagoon wall at Tortuga Bay (Dawson, 1963).

Distribution: Ecuador: Galapagos I. off Santa Cruz, Post Office Bay-Floreana (Taylor, 1945). Santa Cruz - Tortuga Bay (Dawson, 1963). Santa Cruz and Floreana (Silva, 1966). Galapagos Islands (Miller & Garske, 2011).
