Culm arising from short but thick rhizome, 80-120 cm tall, 3-sided, with several nodes, these leaf-bearing, scaberulous on angles on upper part; leaves many, aggegated at base of culm and several leaves on upper culm (Wiggins and Porter, 1971).
Growing in swampy habitats (Wiggins and Porter, 1971).
