Adams 1852 as Nassa nodicincta: type locality: Galapagos, in error; BMNH: 973154/1 (Lectotype); 1973154/2 (Paralectotypes) (loc. “Galapagos” in error), AMNH: 180802, ANSP: 81822, 81824, 153225, 153390, 154789, 215728, 324453, 324464, 324471; Finet (2001): Despite numerous citations, Nesbitt & Pitt (1986) have evidenced that most records of Nassarius nodicinctus from Galapagos probably refer to a distinct species, which was described as a new species: N. caelolineatus Nesbitt & Pitt, 1986. The true N. nodicinctus probably does not occur in the Galapagos. Accordingly, the Galapagos citations must be considered as of Nassarius nodicinctus (A. Adams, auct., non A. Adams, 1852). But we must also admit that the original locality information of “Galapagos Islands” for the syntypes of the true N. nodicinctus described by A. Adams from the H. Cuming collection is incorrect. See also Finet (1994).
