Syn.: Cerithium interruptum Menke, 1851 (non Lamarck, 1804); Finet (2001): A few authors (Carpenter, 1857: 360; Dall, 1909) have cited “Cerithium interruptum Menke” from the Galapagos, considering also with other authors that it was a synonym of Cerithium gallapaginis Sowerby, 1855. Actually, the true Cerithium interruptum of Menke, 1851 (non Lamarck, 1804) is probably a distinct species, replaced by the name C. menkei Carpenter, and whether it really occurs in the Galapagos is doubtful and remains a subject for further investigation, as the citations of Cerithium interruptum Menke, of authors, probably refer to Cerithium gallapaginis Sowerby, 1855.
