In Hooker (1847) as Lycopersicon peruanum var. aparviflorum, Stewart (1911) as Lycopersicum exculentum var. minor. This species, as reported by Wiggins & Porter (1971), most likely also refers to Lycopersicum esculentum sensu Andersson (1855).

Distribución: Confirmada en 10 islas, en vegetación abierta. Reportes de otras islas necesitan confirmación debido a la división de esta especie en dos (Darwin et al. 2003). Amenazada por animales ferales y por hibridación con S. lycopersicum y S. pimpinellifolium en algunas islas.
