Syn.: “Cerithium interruptum Menke” auct., non Menke, 1851 (nec Lamarck, 1804); Finet (2001): Cerithium interruptum Menke, 1851 (non Lamarck, 1804), preoccupied and replaced by the name Cerithium menkei Carpenter, 1857, has been treated as a synonym of Cerithium gallapaginis Sowerby by several authors (Carpenter, 1857: 189; Stearns, 1893; Dall, 1909); it seems however that both species are distinct and valid.
